360° Virtual Spin – Product Photography

360 degree spin shot comparison

360 degree spin shot comparison – 12, 24, 36 or 72 shots?

360 degree spin shot comparison – is a tricky subject for the inexperienced.
Some of the questions we frequently get asked indicate that there is a good deal of confusion.
For instance…

How do I choose between the various spins?
How many shots per rotation do I really need?
Does the size of the product make any difference?
Will the 360 degree spin images load more quickly if I choose fewer shots?
Here are some guidelines that many of our customers have found helpful…

12 Shot Spin

360 degree spin, 12 shot comparison

12 shot spins are great for simple web use where you want to display all sides of a product in order for the viewer to investigate and understand more about the product. The image appears less smooth with only 12 shots but the file size is much smaller and so loads more quickly.

12 shot plans work better for smaller products.
Product dimensions are restricted to 30 cm or 12 inches across the longest diagonal.

Studio quality still images are provided on a CD-ROM, and are included in the price.

24 Shot Spin

24 shot spins give a smoother effect and are better for products of higher value or greater size.

A smoother movement gives a better impression of your product but the image takes a little longer to load. We can minimise the load time by carefully selecting the right level of file compression. Trust us! We know what we are doing!

Studio quality still images are provided on a CD-ROM, and are included in the price.

Product dimensions are restricted to 60 cm or 2 feet across the longest diagonal.

36 and 72 shot spins

36 and 72 shot spins are primarily for products which definitely require an even smoother rotational appearance. This level of quality is particularly appropriate for use in Product Tours which are shown on HD screens. 72 shots are recommended for products which exceed 50 cm or 20 inches on any diagonal.

Studio quality still images are provided on a CD-ROM, and are included in the price.
